Switch to Chill when the back seat is buckled in

When someone buckles up in the second row, acceleration drops to Chill so launches stay smooth.

WHEN
Seatbelt — Second-row left or right — buckled
AND IF
  • Seat Occupied — Same second-row seat is occupied
THEN
  1. Acceleration Mode — Chill
  2. Voice Announcement — “Chill mode on for the back seat.”

Why it’s useful

Instant torque is fun for the driver and not so fun for a carsick kid or a grandparent in the back.

How to set it up

  1. Open AutomationsWith the car in Park, open the App Launcher on the touchscreen and tap Automations.
  2. Create a new automationTap “Create an automation”.
  3. Set the trigger: SeatbeltUnder Trigger, open Seatbelts and pick Seatbelt. Set it to: Second-row left or right — buckled.
  4. Add condition: Seat OccupiedTap Add condition, open Seats, pick Seat Occupied and set: Same second-row seat is occupied.
  5. Action 1: Acceleration ModeTap Add action, open Drive, pick Acceleration Mode and set: Chill.
  6. Action 2: Voice AnnouncementTap Add action, open Voice, pick Voice Announcement and set: “Chill mode on for the back seat.”.
  7. Name and saveName it “Gentle Ride”, save, and make sure its card is switched on.
  8. Test itTrigger it once while parked with the screen on, and check each action happened.

Menu names come from the English strings found in current firmware and may change slightly at launch. There is no way to import automations, so you build each one on the touchscreen. Full walkthrough

Tips

  • Pair it with a rule on “Any seatbelt unbuckled” + “Gear is Park” that sets Standard again when you are driving solo.

Limits to know

  • Automations only run while the center screen is on, and never while Autopilot or FSD is engaged.
